Portraiture is when a photographer takes a picture of peoples faces that show different expressions.

~The photograph shows a model who is wearing bold and gothic makeup and she has bright blue eyes which stand out. In the background there is a plain dark grey background and in the foreground there is a posed model which is slightly burred.
~The most important thing in this photo is the model because she stands out even though the photo is burred, also the models eyes, as they are blue and bright it makes them stand out but still complements the gothic makeup. ~I think this photo was taken in a studio as there is a plain grey background instead of a natural background like a forest or in a room. ~I think this picture is staged because the model is posing for the photographer. This photo has been manipulated as it has been edited to look blurry and the models face is very light and washed out. ~I think that the lighting used is artificial as the models face looks very bright and unrealistic. The photo has been edited as the photo is slightly blurred to give a more unusual affect and the model looks very pale. ~I like this picture because the model doesn't look very realistic and very gothic however I dislike the picture because the background is plain, but the background goes with the model. |

~This photograph shows a young girl with her hands on her face looking into a mirror. In the background there is a mirror showing the girls face and in the foreground there is the back of the girls head and her face which is slightly blurred so all your attention would be drawn to the girls face.
~The most important thing in this photo is the girls face because she looks very bright, cute and girly and this would attract people to the photo. ~I think this photo is taken in a studio because the girl is posed and the photographer has used a light to brighten her face and to make it stand out but I think that the photographer who took this wanted it to look more realistic like she was in her room rather than it being posed in a studio to maybe make it seem more sentimental. ~I think the lighting used is artificial because the girls face is very bright as if there is a light next to her. The photo has been manipulated by editing as there is a brown/pink undertone added the photo which complements the pink hair band and dress she is wearing. The back of her head is blurred so that people would be drawn to her face rather than the back of her head. ~I like this photo because the young girl has her hands on her face which makes her look very cute and innocent which drew me to the picture, also I like how the photo has a brown/pink tone added to it. |

Edited Pictures
These photos have been edited using Photoshop, I opened the picture on Photoshop and changed the colour balance to make it more pink so it looked similar to the photograph that inspired me.
I like these photographs because they look really simple and are similar to the photograph that inspired me however i feel like i could have made it look a lot more professional by changing the levels of the photographs and making the models face more flawless and stand out more.

~This photo shows a women who looks moody/angry/stressed.
~In the background there Is just a plain black backdrop and in the foreground there is the women holding her head and the photo is in black and white. ~The most important thing in the picture is how the women's face is posed because it draws attention to the viewer and its the only thing in focus. ~I think the picture has been taken in a studio because the lighting used is artificial because her face is really bright even though the picture is black and white, I think the photographer who took this wanted the light to be focused on her face to draw all the attention to it. The photo has been manipulated by editing as the photo has got a black and white filter which could contrast how she is feeling in the picture. |

Edited Pictures
These photos have been edited using Photoshop and PicsArt.
Firstly, I opened two different original photographs onto Photoshop and started to layer them on top of each other. I moved the top layer slightly lower and used filters to make the photograph more interesting. I repeated this for the second original photograph and made it look ghostly. I used the same two photographs for both however, I placed them differently and used different filters.
The middle picture has been edited by PicsArt.
I messed around with a lot of the different effects until I was pleased with how the photo turned out. I ended up layering the picture a few times to give it the ghostly look. I made the second layer red to add a pop of colour into it because I think it would've looked boring.

Final Design Ideas
For my final design i am going to edit pictures in the style of these 3 unknown artists.
-Firstly, i'm going to take 3 main pictures of my friend in different angles and with her hand covering her face. -Then i'm going to add deep words all over her face, but i'm going to keep her eye area and lip area uncovered so there is a pop of colour coming through. |

Edited Photos
~These photos have been manipulated by using Photoshop.
Firstly, I cropped some of the pictures down and took out the red eyes from all of the pictures, then I either changed some of them so they were black and white or I just kept them the same but just changed the levels to make them look better quality.
Then I used a picture that has "I feel like I'm out of my mind" written everywhere in different sizes and black pens.
I put the picture of writing on the faces and faded them into the picture to make it have that cool affect. I rubbed the writing out in some places to make it either have writing in the background or on the face for example on a lot of the photographs i didn't put writing over the lips or eyes to make them stand out a lot more.
On some of the pictures I changed the colour of the eyes, eyebrows and lips on the picture to make them stand out more
I like these pictures because they look very sophisticated. They aren't that similar to the photographs that inspired me however i'm very pleased with the outcome of these and i wouldn't change them.
I feel like i could've used less writing on some of the photographs or added more effects onto the background to make the face stand out more but i'm still pleased.

Final Piece
~This photograph is my favourite of them all because of the way I edited it.
Firstly,I changed the photograph to black and white but I changed the eye vibrant blue so it stands out throughout the whole picture and it would grab your attention, I also added the words "out of my mind" into the eye to make it more effective. In the background its just plain white/grey and in the foreground there is a face of a girl with a lot of writing over the top, i didn't feel like i needed to do much to the background as in a lot of the photographs that inspired me they were all plain so i decided to do the same but i do like how it came out. ~The most important thing about this is the message behind it, its to show awareness that people shouldn't feel trapped and that they should express their feelings and not keep it bottled up inside of them. The words "out of my mind" is an example of what she is feeling about herself and the possible situation she is in. ~In this photograph you can see words written all over her face. This was purposefully done to show everything she was thinking about herself. Instead of hiding everything it is clearly visible to everyone. |
